Advanced Diploma CPD Course
The focus of this advanced massage training course is to help you develop your practice by being able to widen your client base. The course looks at a wide range of medical conditions and is only open to existing massage practitioners.
We study; the pathology of the conditions, we examine in detail the contraindications for that particular condition so that you know how to safely massage and how to adapt your massage to meet the needs of the client with that individual conditions. We then work through effective massage protocols for the conditions so that you know your treatments will be both safe and effective.
This course is jointly validated by ThinkTree and the Standards Authority for Touch in Cancer Care (SATCC). On completion of the course you can join the SATCC register of approved practitioners.
At Fusion Massage we are passionate about Continual Professional Development so you are able to join this course after you have been practicing for a minimum of a year. This five-day advanced massage training workshop is only taught by our Senior Teacher, Maureen Abson, and focuses on using massage treatments to treat a range of medical conditions and their symptoms. Please see below for the topics that we will cover in detail in both discussion and practical sessions.
There is one day's pre-course work to complete in preparation for the hands on training.

The Advanced Diploma - Course Content
Day One
Disorders of the nervous system: Parkinsons & MS, Drop Foot and Drop Wrist, Peripheral Neuropathy. Injuries: whiplash and stroke rehabilitation.
Day Two
Disorders of the Respiratory system: Asthma and other breathing problems and Pregnancy and post natal massage: Safety issues, special considerations, complications and contraindications. Massage for gynecological issues.
Day Three
Lifelong conditions: Cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy
Day Four
Cancer and oncology massage: Safety essentials and research findings, understanding cancer and how it spreads, the importance of using the correct pressure, massage during cancer treatments, unstable tissues, lymphatic drainage massage. The one day's pre-course reading is for this element of the training. On completion of the course you are also able to join the SATCC register.
Day Five
Skeletal and connective tissues problems: Frozen shoulders, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, Dupuytren’s contracture, scoliosis, RSI, Restless Leg Syndrome.
